Retail banks

AI visibility for banks starts with the rules.

People opening an account can ask an AI assistant which bank to choose and what it costs. TrustInsider shows which terms reach the answers, from which sources, and how to correct them with informative texts that your compliance team reviews before publication.

The rule before the correction

Correcting an error without promising anything

When an answer describes an account badly, the temptation is to reply with a sales message. In lending and payments communication has precise rules, and an unbalanced remedy creates a new problem.

There are European and national rules on the communication of banking and financial products, and your compliance function knows which apply to each product. A page that corrects an error therefore informs: terms, costs, date of update, reference to the official document. The Action Center prepares neutral texts for the people at the bank who handle compliance to review before publication.

Two responses to the same error about a current account

A sample error about a current account and two ways of responding: on the left a message that promises, on the right a correction that informs with terms, costs and source.

Message that promisesCorrection that informs
ToneThe best-value account you can open today. The account terms, updated to the date shown on the page.
CostsNo charges, for everyone, forever. The fee and the cases in which it applies, as in the information sheet.
SourceNo reference to a verifiable document. The reference to the information sheet published by the bank.

Account terms

An old information sheet becomes today’s answer

The account’s terms have changed, but a comparison site or an old page keeps reporting the previous fee. The assistant repeats it as current to people choosing where to open an account.

The check is made against the information sheet in force: AI claims flags the statement about the fee and the source it comes from. The most robust fix is a product page that states the date of the last revision, because it gives the answer a dated version to pick up.

Information sheet

The withdrawn fee that lingers in the account description

What to avoid: the account is presented with a monthly fee withdrawn long ago, read on a page that was never updated. What to do: up-to-date information sheets and a product page with the revision date, which the assistant can cite.

Branch network

The closed branch lingers in local answers

Someone asking for a bank near home gets the address of a branch that closed last year. The map listing was never removed, and the answer picks it up.

Local questions rely on map listings more than on the branch list on the website. Google and Bing presence shows which listings still appear active, and the comparison with the official list tells you which should be removed or updated.

Three branches of a demo bank: for each one, how it appears on the website, how it appears on the map listing and whether the assistant’s answer cites it.

The closed branch named as the reference in town

What to avoid: the assistant recommends a branch that has closed, because its listing is still public. What to do: listings of closed branches removed or updated, and a branch list on the website that matches the one on the maps.

Questions by product

Which questions you appear for, product by product

Account, card, mortgage, loan: every product has its own questions and every country its own phrasing. The panel repeats them every cycle, so you see where the bank enters the answers and where it drops out.

In the AI visibility section questions are grouped by product and by country, with the bank’s position in each answer and the series of cycles; countries are never added together. Alongside you find the cited sources, which in this sector can be comparison sites and personal finance publishers more than the bank’s own website.

How present the bank is in the answers

How often the question comes up in the panel

  1. Current account

Many questions about cost, answers led by comparison sites.

  2. Payment card

Questions about fees abroad where the bank stays out.

  3. Home mortgage

The bank’s guides are picked up in answers about the rate.

  4. Personal loan

Few questions, with the bank named alongside consumer lenders.

No idea where the bank appears first

What to avoid: the bank does not know for which product questions it is named first and for which it does not appear at all. What to do: a panel of questions by product and by country, repeated over time, with the position in every answer.

Sources to correct

The comparison site that repeats the outdated term

When an external source repeats wrong information, the correction is not written on your website: you ask whoever maintains that source, with the approved fact and the evidence.

The glimpse shows the “To correct” panel in Actions for a demo brand: the external source, the sentence the answers take from it, the fact approved by the company and the message ready to request the correction. For a bank the same view gathers the comparison sites and personal finance sites that report old terms, and the message stays informative: fact, date, official document, to be reviewed internally before sending.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about banks in AI answers

How an answer gets corrected, who reviews the texts before they are published, why comparison sites carry weight and how to read the different markets.

Can a bank ask an AI assistant to correct an answer?

There is no form for changing an answer. You work on the sources the assistant reads: updated product pages, branch listings, data on comparison sites.

Should the text prepared by the Action Center be reviewed by compliance?

Yes: it is an informative draft, with no promises, designed to go through your internal review before publication or sending.

Why can comparison sites carry weight in answers about accounts?

Because they gather the terms of many banks in an easy-to-read format. That is why your bank’s listing on those sites must be kept as up to date as your website.

Can I see the questions for one country at a time?

Yes: the panel is organised by market and language, and answers from different countries are never added together.
