Luxury and high-end

One maison, four languages, four different stories.

In luxury, history, craftsmanship and price are part of the product. AI assistants rebuild them from different sources in each country: TrustInsider shows you which story reaches people asking in Italian, French, German or Spanish.

In Italian

When two maisons end up in the same biography

Founders, dates, workshops: the history of a fashion house is the stuff of encyclopaedias and archives. If the sources are thin, the assistant mixes up the stories of two brands with similar origins.

In questions asked in Italian, tradition weighs heavily: who founded the house, where a leather comes from, which workshop a model came out of. That is where the answer tends to merge similar stories, especially between brands born in the same city or the same decade. AI claims isolates the wrong sentence and the source it comes from, so it can be checked against public archives.

A maison biography with the date taken from a house of the same name

A sample answer about the origins of a demo maison, with three parts flagged: the founding year, the founder who belongs to another house and the encyclopaedia cited as the source.

QuestionWho founded the maison and in which city?

AI assistant · sample answer

The maison was born in a provincial town in the years just after the war, when a local saddler opened his workshop and began working leather for travellers. So says an online encyclopaedia entry devoted to the region’s leather goods houses.

  1. Statement

The founding period is a fact to check against the house’s archive.

  2. Error

The founder described is that of another house with a similar name.

  3. Source

The cited entry mixes the two stories and should be reported to whoever maintains it.

The founder borrowed from another house

Avoid: the answer attributes to the maison the founder and founding year of a house with a similar name. Do: history and verifiable facts on encyclopaedic and archival sources, consistent with the history page on the website.

In French

The list price and the resale price

In the French market, questions about the value of a piece often lead to second-hand platforms and investment guides. The price the assistant reports may not be the one in your boutique.

Cited sources shows when the answer relies on a resale site, and AI claims flags the price quoted. The distinction between new and pre-owned is built in your own content: an official source for the list price, where your commercial policy allows it, and clear words about the secondary market.

The same model as read from the boutique and from the resale site

A bag from a demo maison described by two different sources: the boutique’s official page and a listing on a second-hand platform, line by line.

The maison’s boutiqueThe resale platform
PriceThe current season’s list price, set by the house. The pre-owned valuation, which follows demand at the time.
AvailabilityBy appointment in store or through customer service.A single piece for sale, until someone buys it.
SourceThe model’s official page on the maison’s website. The listing posted by an unknown third-party seller.

The pre-owned valuation presented as the list price

Avoid: the answer quotes the value on a resale platform as the bag’s price. Do: your own content distinguishing the list price from the secondary market, with an official source for the price where possible.

In German and Spanish

A counterfeit site among the cited sources

In markets where the brand has less local press, the answer may draw on sites of dubious origin. Seeing it straight away is the first step towards action that takes place outside the platform.

Fewer articles in the country’s language means fewer reliable sources for the assistant to start from. Cited sources lists, market by market, the domains that appear in answers, so you can see whether a suspicious domain is among them. Protecting the trademark is then up to your lawyers.

What to look for in the sources of each luxury market

Four markets of a maison and, for each one, the typical question to follow and the signal to check in the sources the answer cites.

FranceThe value of a piece over timePrices taken from second-hand listings
GermanyWhere to buy an original modelUnauthorised shops cited as retailers
SpainThe differences between two of the house’s linesDomains of uncertain origin among the sources

The counterfeit shop nobody notices

Avoid: a site selling counterfeits appears among the sources of an answer about the brand and nobody notices. Do: a check of the sources at every cycle, and legal action taken outside the platform.

Jewellery and watches

Calibres, metals and stones are facts to cite

For jewellery and watchmaking, the answer describes materials, movement and craftsmanship. These are technical details the assistant finds only if someone has written them on a readable page.

A product page with metal, carat weight, movement and reference helps the assistant avoid confusing two models from the same line. The product feed brings the same data to shopping agents, in the same form as the website. Jewellery and watches are on this page because their questions and sources largely overlap with those of luxury.

Measurement by market

Head to head with the houses you declare

In the Competitors section you see, for each house you have chosen as a benchmark, how many of the answers that name you or that house name your maison, with the evidence to read.

The glimpse shows the Competitors “Head to head” panel on a demo brand: one row for each pair, the share of mentions and the link to the answers behind it. For a maison the comparison is read market by market, because each language has its own panel and its own sample: a dip in Germany doesn’t hide behind a solid presence in Italy. You choose the benchmark houses, never us.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about luxury in AI answers

Why the story changes between countries, what to do about resale prices, who chooses the comparison houses and where jewellery and watches fit.

Why does the description of my brand change from one country to another?

Because in each language the assistant reads different sources: national press, local platforms, third-party sites. That is why the comparison is made market by market.

Can I stop an answer from quoting a resale price?

You can’t decide what an assistant cites, but you can publish a clear source for the list price and distinguish new from pre-owned in your own content.

Who chooses the houses I’m compared with?

You do. You declare the benchmark brands and TrustInsider measures them on the same questions, without adding any others.

Do jewellery and watches have a separate page?

No: they are in a section of this page, because their questions and sources largely overlap with those of luxury.
