Media intelligence · Stories and copies
One story. Many republications.
Organize brand coverage by original content, topic and source scope. Turn a press review into practical communication priorities.
There may be one press release and many URLs republishing it. Counting each address as an independent story confuses distribution with the variety of news. A republication still matters: it shows where a message appeared. An article adding interviews, data or a judgement represents another editorial contribution. A useful review preserves both dimensions, without deleting copies or artificially multiplying independent stories.
Webz.io News Search provides a concrete example of coverage limits. Its official SDK README describes the last 30 days and returns titles, URLs, metadata and relevant excerpts. Retrieving the full body requires another call through News API. An excerpt is therefore not a complete article, and recent search is not a historical archive. This distinction changes what can be analysed and retained. Technical access does not automatically confer republication rights; those depend on the agreement with the provider and source. Start with a communication question
A press review is useful when it explains what is being said about the brand and what the team should investigate. Choose a goal before collection: checking a launch narrative, following a critical topic or comparing messages repeated by publishers. Define names, variants and possible namesakes. A short name may refer to different organizations or people; collecting every match increases volume without understanding. Preserve inclusion rules and excluded examples so someone who did not design the search can understand the sample.
Use a concrete case to read the message
Illustrative example: coverage of a new product focuses on price while the team intended to explain a usage benefit. Read passages, separate release copies from analysis and check what information journalists actually had. The response might be a clearer product page, a documented example or an answer to an unresolved question. Do not infer an audience opinion change merely because a word appears more often. This example describes an analysis method, not a real campaign or audience measurement obtained by TrustInsider.
Match the response to the issue
A critical mention may contain a factual error, a legitimate opinion or an experience needing investigation. Identify the case and retain evidence before proposing action. For inaccurate information prepare correct facts and an appropriate contact; for a recurring question improve public materials; for a difficult experience involve the service owner. Do not promise article removal or control over another publisher’s editorial choices. Useful work clarifies the issue and documents the response while respecting source rights and people.
